Cherry Blossoms - The Real Holga

The digital Holga cherry blossom photos I posted a couple of weeks ago were nice, but it really doesn't compare to the real thing. The reason these are being posted so much later is because, well, I had to develop and scan them. It takes more time, but it's worth it!

Cherry Blossoms - Digital Holga

Okay, so these were not made with a Holga... but they were made with a digital camera and absolutely NO photoshop other than cropping and minor density change.

I saw this technique on Zack Arias's blog the other day, and figured I'd have to give it a try for myself... and this is the result. If I have some time, I will try to do a little writeup of the technique and take a photo of my contraption, but if you don't want to wait you can just head over to his blog and see how it was done!

Andy

Andy and I wandered around taking photos the other weekend in between errands, and I took this one of him. This is one of my few scans from an actual print, as I just developed the film this weekend and decided to print it right away, rather than proof it via low res film scans. Usually I work the other way around, scanning everything and then deciding from there what to print in the darkroom for my finished prints. But it worked out, I think!

Share: The New Hair

Another new haircut for me! These self portraits were taken against our freshly painted bedroom walls. Our house has been a boring off-white for waaaaaay too long, so we decided to start the process of picking out some colors and getting it painted.

Anyway, I thought I'd get a haircut since the weather's getting warmer and more hair = uncomfortable in the summer. I like my new cut, mostly because it takes next to no effort. I'm all about finding styles that work with my natural hair, rather than trying to fight with it every morning to do go into some other style. I always lose that battle, and it is not pretty!
